Colin M. Parker is a videographer, producer, editor, and podcaster in the state of Maryland. Colin is a founding member of The Scavengers Network, where he is the owner, Creative Director, and Supervising Producer. As the Supervising Producer of The Scavengers Network, Colin has overseen many new projects, ranging from podcasts about band discographies to narrative storytelling/audio fiction podcasts. He also started the Podcast Outreach Program, where industry professionals visit local schools to teach podcasting to students and help them create their very own podcasts in a collaborative environment with fellow students.

Colin studied at Loyola University of New Orleans, where he graduated with a B.S. in Music Industry Studies, with a concentration on Digital Filmmaking. He ran Iggy Vision, and was the head of post-production and the film crew for EQ&A. He studied under mentors Billy O’Connell, Kendra Reed, and Jay Crutti, and is eternally grateful for their friendship and guidance. He is currently back at Loyno working towards his MBA (Spring ‘22).

Colin was the co-host of Journey Under 30 (now finished), and is currently a cast member, editor, and producer of Myth Takes, It Jams For Thee, and Timeline Scavengers. Outside of the network, Colin serves as the Director of Digital Media and Technology at Bass Works, playing video games with friends, playing bass in the pit for a local theater, and, most likely, talking nonstop about Spider-man.

Videography, Editing, Directing, and Producing

Bass Works went entirely virtual for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the Tech Director of Bass Works, my job became more relevant than ever. I worked on panels daily, ran the student recitals (live and video stitching), and all of the chamber ensemble videos for the final concert. It was a 100+ hour work week, which led to the most video and live streamed content I’ve ever produced in a 7 day time frame. Here’s one of the videos from that week.

At Loyola University New Orleans, I was a Music Industry Studies major, who also worked on a minor in digital filmmaking. Each week, I worked on the video crew for Iggyvision to film a multitude of projects, the most common being the Music Industry Forum. We had a lot of incredible guests. One of my favorite forums I filmed and edited was Tank and Tavia of Tank & The Bangas.

Spooky Spouses was one of the first podcasts to join the network. When they invited me out to Madison Seminary for a chance to check if it was haunted or not? I jumped at the chance. This is 30 minutes of our 4 hour live stream/filmed walk-through. Cannot confirm or deny if it was haunted.

Here’s what Bass Works feels like when we can be in the same space. 100+ double bass players, creating music together. It is extremely formative for the young players, the teachers, and even myself for my technical standpoint. This is part of a stream, and YouTube has squashed the audio quality a bit, but I believe it still shows the work I put in before they did so.

Here is a full Bass Works livestream, complete with the lower thirds done live. Working with so many talented teachers and students is one of the best parts of my year.

Let’s Plays - this is a different form of content than the traditional. It isn’t exactly what some people would call professional, but it is a type of content I fully enjoy and love working on. While one of my earliest edits for a live let’s play, it remains one of the most fun videos I’ve shot and produced. (NSFW language may be present)

Let’s Play - Final example of a let’s play video I have worked on. NSFW language, so be forewarned, but it is a multi-cam/multi-angle video unlike the OctoDad content.

Another interview that I directed was the interview with Pell at Loyola University of New Orleans. Getting to meet and listen to incredible people in the industry each week was a true joy of this job.

Let’s Play - Another video game content based video, and one of the more crazy ones at that. But the element in this video where the 4 players swap positions at a moments notice meant keeping the names respective to their location, and frequently moving around. (NSFW language used)
